4-Speed Transmission

Another feature is the cageless needle roller bearings used in the cluster gear. It gives a lot more durability than the original bronze bushings. No shell type Torringtons. Needle rollers are glued inside gear with grease, the lay shaft has a leading nose for better installation. Lubrification by oil thrown from shifter wheels into oil grooves drilled off-centre into gear.

Another reason for upgrading is seen on left foto. The cluster repro gear wore out after 1500mls, on a 80cui sidecar with 23T sprocket, no traces of overheating; unusual that 2nd lasts longer than 1st.
